Last Saturday was Super Mario Day. The popular plumber from the numerous Nintendo games is a pop culture phenomenon that has been inspiring people for more than 30 years.
The Italian with the red cap still enjoys great popularity, not only in the bouncing games for consoles and smartphones, but also as a driver in the game Mario Kart.
That’s why Google Maps took the opportunity to partner with Nintendo to celebrate the day.
Supposedly, no money was spent on the cooperation. Mario fans will enjoy the new feature because it is free for all Android and iOS users with the latest app version.
Mario as a navigator on Google Maps
Who starts the navigation app Google Maps last saturday , should experience a little surprise. It is possible to show the way of the Nintendo figure last saturday. What you have to do for it? After entering your destination, a “?” Icon will appear at the bottom of the screen that you can tap on. Now you have activated the “Mario Time”.
Instead of a boring arrow, now navigate Mario on his kart to the target. If you want, you can take a screenshot of your route and upload it to Twitter or Instagram using the #MarioMaps hashtag.
Google Maps and its many small cooperations
This is not the first time Google has modified its popular Maps application . Pac-Man , the Loch Ness Monster, and Doctor Who had already made an appearance on Google Maps and made the actually rather dry app a little more colorful.
Happy Mar10 Day!

The cooperation between Nintendo and Google Maps can certainly be regarded as a small teaser. Because in the coming year Mario Kart should appear as an app for current smartphones. It’s still a while until the end of March 2019, but until then, the nice feature on Google Maps is a fun and entertaining way to reach your destination.
